Sparkling blue
green water, sugar white sand, and the magnificent shore birds that make
our nation's beaches their home are some of the Shalimar, Florida artist
Judy Goodfellow's favorite subjects. One of her oil paintings, 'Emerald
Coast', was displayed in the Florida State Capital during a special ceremony.
A short time later, another painting, 'A Southern Bald Eagle', was also
honored at such a ceremony at the Florida Capital. She is one of the few
Florida artists to have two paintings so honored.
In 1998, Judy was
commissioned by the non-profit organization, 'Children Deserve A Drug Free
America', to do a large eagle's head painting as the premier piece of art
for their fund raising program. The success of that painting has led to
her being asked to do a series of paintings for the organization. The
demand for the subjects, along with her realistic southern rural scenes,
is continually growing.
She personally produces 30 to 50
paintings a year, but is currently concentrating on major large works. Her
long term goal is to focus on doing the best art that she can and not let
numbers or outside forces influence her work. She has won many awards at the
numerous fine art shows that she attends throughout the Southeast, but a
hi-light of her 25 year career is being selected to exhibit at the
Festival of Masters at Walt Disney World, Florida which is one of the top
10 fine art shows in the nation.
From May to August 2000, Judy's work was
show cased in the Governors Gallery, which is located outside the door to
the Governor's office in Tallahassee, Florida. This body of work included
approximately 12 original paintings depicting Florida native wildlife in
their natural environment. The title of the exhibit was 'Florida Natives
at Their Best'.
